A man has been charged with the murder of a teenager stabbed to death outside a shopping centre in Reading.

Juan-Claude McKenley, 18, from Reading, was stabbed in what officers described as an "altercation" outside the Broad Street Mall on Thursday afternoon.

Thames Valley Police said Deno Brown, 26, also from Reading, had been charged with murder and possession of a class A drug with intent to supply.

He was due to appear before Slough Magistrates Court at the weekend.

Mr McKenley was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital but died later due to his injuries.

A post-mortem examination found he died from internal bleeding.

His best friends Nathan, Alex, Trisil and Deeroi paid tribute to Mr McKenley in a tribute released through police.

Alex said: "We spent a lot of time together in and out of school.

"Most of the time was football, he was the best defender I have ever seen."

He added that Mr McKenley was "always there for me when I needed you".

"It's a shame that I was not there for you. I love you like a brother, I'll be praying for you.

"Even though you're gone you will never be forgotten in my heart and mind."
