People who want to get more involved with policing their communities are being invited to a one-off event to brainstorm ideas and tactics.
The 'Making a Difference' meeting has been organised by Thames Valley Police to "harness the enthusiasm of community-minded residents".
It will also provide information for those who want to join the force as community support officers.
The event is being held at the Holiday Inn in Caversham on 23 June.
"Actions where people are community-spirited and step in to make a stand are what we depend upon in policing," said Superintendent Dilip Amin.
"We know there are hundreds of people in this borough who love Reading and want to make it a safe and reassuring place for everyone and this is why we have organised such a massive event."
