Rail disaster team meets coroner
Train crash site
The coroner wants to find out if the train was working properly
Investigators of the Berkshire rail crash are meeting the coroner ahead of the inquest into the deaths of the seven victims.

The coroner wants to decide if the crossing and train were functioning properly and whether the rail companies should be called to the inquest.

The train derailed when it hit a car on a crossing at Ufton Nervet, killing six on the train and the car driver.

A memorial service is to be held in Reading on 8 December.

An initial Health and Safety Executive report gave a clean bill of health to the track, train and level crossing.

The Bishop of Reading is writing to local newspapers inviting people to the memorial service.

Train company First Great Western is to provide free rail travel for anyone wishing to attend.
