The work is due to be completed in January 2009

A section of the M1 in Hertfordshire will close overnight next week for work on overhead gantries displaying road information and lane directions.

The northbound M1 will be closed from 2200 BST on Wednesday 17 September between junction six (A405) and juntion seven (M10) until 0500 BST on Thursday.

Highways Agency project manager Geoff Bethel said: "This is work to lift the overhead gantries into position.

"The M1 has to be closed to ensure it can be done safely and efficiently."

The agency said work to widen the M1, due to be completed in January next year, was on schedule.
