Three arrests after historic house raid

Three men have been arrested in connection with a raid at Waddesdon Manor, the historic home of the famous Rothschild Collection.

A gang of five men wearing boiler suits and balaclavas broke into the National Trust-owned stately home, near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, on 10 June.

They stole more than 100 gold boxes and a number of other valuable pieces.

On Tuesday, police announced that two men, one in his 30s and the other in his 40s, were being held in Andoversford, Gloucestershire, in a police operation aimed at gun crime, drugs and burglary.

A third man, in his 20s, was arrested at an address in Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham.

All three were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and released on bailed pending further police inquiries.

Estimates of the value of the haul taken from the 19th Century manor have been put at tens of thousands of pounds.
