Men in court over £20m drugs haul

Three men have appeared in court charged with conspiracy to supply heroin worth up to £20m.

Harminder Chana, 30, of Upton Park, East London, and Atif Khan, 32, of York Close, Beckton, were remanded in custody at Richmond Magistrates' Court.

Dutch national Patrick Kuster, 35, was also placed on remand at the hearing.

Officers found 350kg (770lb) of heroin in a Seat Leon and BMW estate in a service station car park near junction eight on the M20, at Maidstone, Kent.

They three are due to appear at Kingston Crown Court on 9 June.

Metropolitan Police officers seized the drug from the vehicles on Thursday.

Det Ch Insp Peter Beyer said; "This is one of the largest ever seizures of heroin by police in the UK."
