New out-of-hours health provider
A new provider of overnight and weekend medical services in the Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft area has been announced.

Great Yarmouth and Waveney Primary Care Trust (PCT) said TCN (Take Care Now Ltd) will provide out-of-hours services across the district from 16 October.

TCN, which will take over from Anglian Medical Care, will provide urgent and emergency medical services.

It will have five bases in the area, to ensure patients are able to reach a base within a 30-minute drive.

Mobile doctors will also be available.

TCN will also support the three community hospitals managed by the PCT: Beccles Hospital, Patrick Stead Hospital, Halesworth; and Southwold Hospital - and the GP beds at Northgate Hospital, Great Yarmouth.

It will also provide out of hours medical support to HMP Blundeston.

Mike Stonard, PCT chief executive, said the PCT is confident the TCN will provide an accessible service which will quickly and effectively link patients to the services most appropriate to their needs.
