Schoolboy guilty of alleyway rape
A north London schoolboy convicted of raping an au pair in an alleyway has been warned to expect a long custodial sentence.

The 15-year-old, who can not be named for legal reasons, threatened to kill his 25-year-old Czech victim in November 2001, the Old Bailey was told.

She was trying to get to central London when she took a short cut to Edmonton Green train station, north London, after consulting her A to Z.

But she was confronted by the youth who ordered her to undress and assaulted her, the court heard.

Identity parade

Prosecutor Brendon Morris said: "She tried to run away but he grabbed her shoulders and said he had a knife in his pocket and was going to kill her."

He ran off after throwing her clothes over a fence into allotments, the court heard.

The boy denied raping the woman, but the jury convicted him after hearing DNA evidence found on the victim matched his.

He was also picked out in an identity parade.

He has been placed in local authority care until he is sentenced on 7 April.

Recorder John Bevan said: "A substantial custody sentence for an offence of this gravity will be very likely indeed".
