Bail for officer in rape inquiry
Peterborough Police Station
The officer is based at Peterborough
A police officer arrested on suspicion of rape has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The officer, who has not been named, is based at Peterborough in Cambridgeshire.

He was arrested at his home on Wednesday afternoon.

The officer was taken to Huntingdon Police Station where he was questioned by detectives.

He has now been released on police bail and ordered to report back on 24 April.

In the meantime he has been suspended from duty.

The officer is alleged to have raped a woman while off duty in December last year.

A Cambridgeshire Police spokeswoman said that a complaint was made to officers on Sunday.

The force's Professional Standards Department is involved in the investigation.
