Grange Hill makes Mersey debut
![]() Grange Hill was created 25 years ago
Fictional television school Grange Hill has moved to Merseyside.
The first episode of the BBC One children's drama to be filmed and produced in Liverpool was aired on Tuesday. Mersey TV won a three-year contact to produce the drama, but the series will still be set in a London comprehensive. All of the scenes were shot in Liverpool and the city council's film office helped production staff source locations for the outdoor shots.
Mersey TV boss Phil Redmond created the series famed for its ground-breaking storylines 25 years ago. The new series of the drama also features the actor who played Tucker - one of the programme's earliest characters. Todd Carty, best known as Eastenders' Mark, is returning to the school as the uncle of Patrick "Togger" Johnson. |
