Flexible bus service arrives

Corlink buses can be booked over the phone

A new bus service has been launched in North Cornwall.

Described as a cross between a taxi and a bus the new Corlink service will run from Bodmin to Camelford.

Passengers can phone ahead and book the bus up to an hour before their journey.

The service links into the main routes around Cornwall and can also deliver passengers door to door.

'Exciting' project

"It's an exciting project for Cornwall and a considerable improvement on the conventional service," said Colin Jarvis, Cornwall County Council's head of transportation.

The scheme will be widened in December to include the Carnon Valley area.

Cornwall County Council was designated a Centre of Excellence for Rural Integrated Transport by the government last year.

The Corlink service is one of a series of schemes aimed at developing accessible public transport throughout Cornwall.

The project, which is operated by the Liskeard and District Omnibus Company, is funded by the County Council, Plymouth City Council and the government's Rural Bus Challenge.

The service operates from 0600 until 2300 daily and bookings can be made by calling 0845 850 55 56.
