Pasty firm sold for £6m
A Crantock Bakery Cornish pasty
Crantock Bakery makes about 80,000 pasties a day
A well-known manufacturer of cornish pasties has been sold for £6m.

Crantock Bakery was founded by brother and sister Frank and Tessa Bradshaw in 1980 and now produces up to 80,000 pasties a day.

Seventy seven staff are employed at the factory on the Indian Queens Industrial Estate near Newquay.

The bakery was sold to its new management team with funding from Northern Venture Managers and the Bank of Scotland.

Expansion plans

"We both felt the time is right to make our exit and enjoy a more leisurely pace of life," said Mr Bradshaw.

"We shall remain passionate about the pasty and remain proud of Crantock bakery."

Nick Ringer, Crantock Bakery's managing director said: "We are obviously delighted the deal has been completed.

"We have bought a very well-managed business and one which is synonymous with Cornwall and with quality."

He said there are now plans to expand the product range and increase capacity at the 25,000 square-foot factory.

The product range currently extends to more than 26 savoury pasty lines and its frozen products are sold throughout the UK.
