Beatles home movie for sale
Still from footage of The Beatles
The footage was shot on 8mm colour film
A home movie of The Beatles filmed by a teenager during a holiday in Cornwall is expected to fetch thousands of pounds at auction.

The four-minute film was taken by David Arrowsmith in 1967 but lay hidden in his shed for the past 35 years.

He filmed the Fab Four in Newquay after spotting them while they were on location during the filming of Magical Mystery Tour.

Experts have said the 8mm colour film, described as "extremely rare", could fetch 8,000 at auction at Bonhams in London on Wednesday.

Mr Arrowsmith, a 52-year-old plumber from Taunton in Somerset, was 16 when he took the footage on his hand-held camera.

He said: "I was on holiday with my family and all of a sudden they went past us in a bus.

"We followed them and then they pulled up at the side of the road."

He said the footage he shot of them going into a tent in the middle of a field is shown in Magical Mystery Tour.

"It lasts about 10 seconds on their film and I got four-and-a-half minutes of it."

It was only after watching a television programme which featured other rare footage of the group being sold that Mr Arrowsmith remembered his short film.

Although he is a Beatles fan, Mr Arrowsmith said he wanted to sell the film to get some money to spend on his home.

Nicki Roberts, an expert from Bonhams auction house, said: "Footage that comes up of The Beatles, with copyright, is extremely rare.

"There was no security and he could get close up in their faces - he knew exactly what he was doing."

A photograph of John Lennon's glasses covered in blood taken by his widow Yoko Ono is also on sale at the auction which features a wide range of rock and roll memorabilia.
