Teenagers bailed over gang rape
Entrance to the Friary Shopping Centre in Guildford
The girls were chased through the Friary centre
Five teenage boys have been released on bail in connection with the rape of a fifteen year old girl in Guildford.

The five were released from police custody early on Sunday morning, after being questioned for a number of hours by Surrey police

The victim, who was out with a friend, was attacked in a car park in the town centre on Saturday.

She was surrounded by 15 youths before her clothes were pulled from her as she tried to run away.

Police revealed she was then raped repeatedly in a stairwell near the Friary Centre in Guildford, Surrey.

The attack occurred between 1130 and 1300 GMT on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the girls were surrounded in the shopping centre before being chased by the boys who were in their early teens.

Five arrests

One of the youths is understood to have threatened the victim's friend with a metal bar.

As the girls tried to escape, the rape victim's clothes were pulled by the boys as she ran up an escalator.

She was then overpowered and led to a stairwell at the nearby Bedford Road car park where she was raped by several of the youths.

Her friend managed to escape the ordeal.

Detectives are appealing for anyone who saw the girls or the gang of boys to contact Guildford CID on 01483 531111.
