The Saatchi brothers previously worked on Margaret Thatcher's 1979 campaign

Advertising agency M&C Saatchi has confirmed that it will again work on the Conservative party's forthcoming election campaign. The company, founded by brothers Maurice and Charles Saatchi, last worked on a Tory campaign in 1997. But it was dropped by David Cameron in 2006, ending a long relationship with the Conservatives. Their previous firm, Saatchi & Saatchi, was first recruited by Margaret Thatcher in 1979. Their "Labour isn't working" slogan was credited with helping Mrs Thatcher win that election. However, their 1997 posters, depicting Tony Blair with demon eyes, drew complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority. During the last election, the Tories' advertising account was held by a M&C Saatchi subsidiary Immediate Sales Company. "We've had a relationship with the Tories for the last 32 years, so it seems a natural move to draft us onto the team," said M&C Saatchi's chief executive David Kershaw. A spokesman for the Conservatives said although M&C Saatchi would be part of the campaign, Euro RSCG would remain their main advertising agency. On Thursday M&C Saatchi reported a 27% fall in pre-tax profits for 2009, with revenues remaining stable.
