Tough trading to hit Emap profits
Magazines in a shop
Emap publishes a number of well-known magazines
Emap has warned that its annual profits will be at the bottom end of market expectations as it continues to battle "challenging" trading conditions.

The media firm said it now aimed to cut costs by up to 20m a year, but did not reveal any possible impact on jobs.

Best known for consumer magazines such as FHM and Closer, Emap also owns radio stations including Magic and Kiss.

Despite the weakness in these consumer units, Emap said its business magazines were continuing to perform well.

Like fellow media firms, Emap has been suffering against stiff competition and the impact of the internet.
